Kaiapoi Museum is administrated by the Kaiapoi District Historical Society Inc.
It is housed in the Ruataniwha Kaiapoi Civic Centre. Kaiapoi Museum was previously housed in the old Kaiapoi Court House, which was demolished after the 4th September 2010 earthquake and reopened in the Ruataniwha Civic Centre on the 5th September 2015.
Our collection relates to Kaiapoi Town and the surrounding districts.
Our mission statement is: to gather and preserve historical material, to inform and educate the public about the district heritage and manage a museum.
Open for research, school and group visits by appointment – contact us to arrange your visit.
Our knowledgeable volunteers are available to share our local history. Come and find out all about Kaiapoi and surrounding districts. Entry is free for your group, but donations are welcome, should you require family or history research fees may apply.
