Together Dave and Raewyn have planted and nurtured hundreds of native trees and ferns, along with shrubs and perennials of all kinds. They’ve created pathways that meander from one intriguing zone to another and bridges that crisscross the stream at various intervals. Enclosed by camelia hedges they’ve established a stunning rose garden, featuring named specimens of all colours and forms. Beyond the rose garden a huge pond, excavated back in 2010, is now very much the focal point of the garden.

At the front of the property Dave and Raewyn maintain a productive vegetable garden, glasshouse and asparagus bed, along with an impressive, fully caged orchard boasting 5 varieties of blueberries, cherries, a nashi pear, apples, plum, peacherine, peaches and feijoa.

And then there’s Dave’s bonsai collection – an incredible array of impossibly perfect, miniature trees, that he has skilfully crafted and maintained for over forty years.

You’ll need to allow a good two hours for your visit to Willoughbridge – a true secret garden with so much to discover.
