Rangiora Museum (the Rangiora & Districts Early Records Society Incorporated) was formed in 1960. The Museum is situated at 29 Good Street, Rangiora in what was the top story of the BNZ building which was shifted on to the site in 1967. Later an extension consisting of a large display area & and a collections archives room was added to the building.
Since its formation the Society it has benefited from donations of some 5,000 objects & more than 11,000 photographs, and glass slides. The Museum has become a repository for family histories, documents & photographs relating to those who settled in the area. These irreplaceable archives are of great value to those who are researching the history of Rangiora families.
Our objectives are:
- To collect, study, preserve and display records, photographs and other material relating to the history of Rangiora and adjoining Districts.
- To foster a knowledge of the history of Rangiora and adjoining Districts among the Society’s members and the general public.
- To provide and operate a Museum pertaining to the history of Rangiora and adjoining Districts.
- To do or cause to be done all things which, in the opinion of the Society, are incidental or conducive to the attainments of its Objects.
Open 1.30pm – 4pm every Wednesday and Sunday.
